on my pillow · lady yu
by mao zedong
on my pillow in my sadness i drown;
the sea turns waves rolling and rolled.
the night is too long before it’s to dawn;
i sit up, put on clothes, lonely, i count stars cold.
at daybreak, hopeless, i feel all depressed;
left is the shadow of her soul.
a disc of thinning moon flows to the west;
at this i can only shed tears without control.
